Viral Diarrhea 4-in-1 Rapid Test for Home Use (1 test/box) – Norovirus, Rotavirus, Adenovirus and Astrovirus

The test is an in vitro diagnostic device intended for self-testing at home. It detects viral antigens present in stool and may help determine whether diarrhoea, vomiting or other gastrointestinal symptoms could be associated with any of the four viruses tested.

The test has four separate test windows, providing individual results for the following viruses:

• Norovirus – a common cause of acute gastroenteritis. Typical symptoms of infection may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.
• Rotavirus – one of the common causes of acute gastroenteritis, particularly in young children.
• Adenovirus – certain types, primarily Ad40 and Ad41, can cause diarrhoeal illness.
• Astrovirus – another virus that can cause gastroenteritis and diarrhoeal symptoms and may be particularly significant in young children.

The test may be particularly useful in cases of acute or recurrent diarrhoea, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and other gastrointestinal symptoms. No special diet or dietary restrictions are required before testing.

A fresh stool sample is required for the test. Collect the sample in a clean, dry container or on the stool collection paper supplied with the kit. If possible, perform the test immediately after sample collection.

1. Wash your hands before testing and allow the test cup to reach room temperature (15–30 °C).

2. Unscrew the cap of the test cup and remove the sampling stick.

3. Sample collection:

•  For solid stool: insert the sampling stick into 3 different areas of the stool sample.
•  For liquid stool: using the supplied dropper, add 2 drops of the sample to the test cup containing the dilution buffer.

4. Return the sampling stick to the test cup and screw the cap back on tightly.

5. Shake the test cup for approximately 10–15 seconds to ensure that the sample is thoroughly mixed with the buffer.

6. Leave it to stand for 2 minutes.

7. Tear off the plastic seal at the bottom of the test cup. Place the cup on a clean, level surface, then press the body of the cup downwards from the top and start the timer.

8. Read the result after 15 minutes. The result must not be interpreted after 20 minutes.

The test has 4 separate result windows: Noro, Rota, Adeno and Astro. Each window must be interpreted separately.

POSITIVE RESULT – two lines (C + T)

If two coloured lines appear in the test window for a particular virus – one in the C (control) region and one in the T (test) region – the result is positive for that virus. This indicates that the antigen of the respective virus has been detected in the stool sample.

The intensity of the T line does not affect the interpretation of the result: even a faintly visible T line should be interpreted as a positive result. In the event of a positive result, it is recommended to consult a doctor and show them the test result.

NEGATIVE RESULT – C line only

If only the C (control) line appears and no line is visible in the T region, the result is negative for that virus. This means that the test did not detect the antigen of the respective virus in the sample.

INVALID RESULT – no C line

If the C control line does not appear, the result is invalid. In this case, the test must be repeated using a new test.

The rapid test result is not a substitute for a medical diagnosis. A negative result cannot completely rule out an infection, particularly if the amount of virus in the sample is still low. If symptoms persist despite a negative test result, it is recommended to consult a doctor and, if necessary, undergo further testing.

Warning: according to the instructions for use, stool samples from infants under one year of age may produce false-positive norovirus results; adenovirus and rotavirus results in newborns should also be interpreted with caution.
