Pregnancy Rapid Test for Dogs and Cats - Safe, Fast Results at Home or in the Clinic

Detecting pregnancy (animal gestation) early in dogs and cats is not always simple. The initial signs are often barely noticeable or can be mistaken for other health conditions. This test provides reliable help: by detecting the presence of the hormone relaxin in a blood sample, it gives a trustworthy indication that the animal is pregnant - expecting puppies or kittens.

What is the relaxin hormone?

Relaxin is a natural hormone that is only produced in higher amounts in the female animal’s body if she is truly pregnant. Detecting it provides a clear answer already in the relatively early stage of pregnancy. This makes the test especially useful for breeders, pet owners, or veterinarians – though even an average pet owner can use it at home to find out sooner whether new offspring are on the way.

When should the test be performed?

The relaxin hormone usually appears in the blood at detectable levels 20–30 days after mating. If the test is done too early, the result may still be negative. The ideal time to test is around the 3rd–4th week after heat.

How does early detection help pet owners?

Early detection provides many benefits:

  • You can prepare for the arrival of the puppies or kittens (space, care, feeding).
  • You can contact your veterinarian in time if you have questions.
  • Avoid unnecessary waiting or false assumptions.
  • Helps prevent unwanted litters if that is an important consideration.

Kit contents:

  • 1 test cassette

  • 1 sterile sampling swab

  • 1 sample collection tube with reagent solution

  • 1 disposable lancet

  • 1 disposable pipette

  • 1 waste disposal bag

  • 1 user manual in English

Testing Procedure

Before starting, carefully read the instructions for use! Allow the test and unopened reagent to reach room temperature (15–30°C).

Sample collection:

  1. Remove the safety cap from the disposable lancet.

  2. Prick the edge of the cat’s or dog’s ear with the lancet.

  3. When a full drop of blood appears, use the collection swab to absorb the blood until the tip is completely red and no longer absorbs.

  4. At the end of sampling, gently press the ear to stop the bleeding.

Testing:

  1. Peel off the foil from the extraction tube and place the blood-soaked swab into the tube with reagent. Rotate it several times against the inner wall so that the blood is fully dissolved in the diluent. Mix well, then close the tube and set aside.

  2. Open the aluminum pouch along the perforation, take out the test cassette, and place it on a clean surface. Holding the tube vertically, slowly add 4 drops of the solution into the sample well (S) of the test cassette, then start timing.

  3. Read the results within 10–30 minutes. Results after 30 minutes are invalid.
Note: Please read results within the specified time frame; evaluating too early or too late may lead to incorrect results.
