Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) Antigen Rapid Test
The FeLV Antigen Rapid Test is a reliable, fast, and effective tool for detecting the presence of the feline leukemia virus (FeLV) in a cat’s whole blood, serum, or plasma. The test is suitable both for home use and veterinary application.
What is FeLV and why is it dangerous?
FeLV is a retrovirus that infects only cats and attacks the immune system. The infection can remain hidden for a long time and gradually weakens the cat’s defenses, leading to serious and potentially life-threatening diseases.
Worldwide, FeLV is one of the leading infectious causes of death in cats.
Most common symptoms of FeLV infection:
-
General weakness, lethargy
-
Loss of appetite, weight loss
-
Pale mucous membranes (a sign of anemia)
-
Recurring fever
-
Chronic, slow-healing infections
-
Swollen lymph nodes
-
Digestive disorders (vomiting, diarrhea)
-
Stomatitis, gingivitis
-
Tumors, especially lymphomas
In many cases, symptoms develop slowly and gradually, which makes regular screening essential for maintaining a healthy cat population.

Gently prick the edge of the cat’s ear with the lancet.

When a full drop of blood appears, use the swab to collect the sample.

Note: Whole blood must be tested immediately.
Test Procedure
Before starting, carefully read the instructions for use! Allow the test and unopened reagent to reach room temperature (15–30°C). Use the test cassette within 1 hour after opening the aluminum foil pouch. At temperatures above 30°C or in high humidity, use as soon as possible.
Whole blood:
-
Remove the foil seal from the extraction tube. Place the blood-soaked swab into the tube with reagent and rotate it several times against the inner wall to fully dissolve the blood in the diluent. Mix thoroughly, then close the tube and set aside. Tear open the aluminum pouch along the notch, take out the test cassette, and place it on a clean, flat surface. Holding the tube vertically, slowly add 4 drops of the mixture into the sample well (S) of the test cassette. Start timing immediately.
-
Wait for the colored lines to appear. Read the result within 10–30 minutes. Results after 30 minutes are invalid.
