Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) Rapid Test

FIV, i.e. feline immunodeficiency virus, is a serious, long-lasting infection that attacks the immune system and can remain hidden for years. This rapid test is designed specifically for the detection of antibodies against FIV in blood, serum or plasma, allowing quick detection of infection at home or in a veterinary setting.

What is FIV?

FIV, also known as feline AIDS, is an infectious disease and a chronic condition caused by a retrovirus that attacks the cat's immune system. The infection may be asymptomatic for years, but later it can cause severe complications. It is most commonly transmitted by biting, so it occurs mainly in outdoor tomcats.

Contents of the Feline AIDS Virus Antibody Rapid Test:

• 1 test cassette
• 1 sterile sampling swab
• 1 sample collection tube with reagent solution
• 1 disposable lancet
• 1 disposable plastic pipette
• 1 waste bag
• 1 instructions for use in Hungarian

Sample collection

Whole blood:

1. Use a disposable needle and a sampling swab to collect the sample.

2. Remove the safety cap of the disposable needle.

3. Then carefully prick the edge of the cat's ear with the disposable needle.

4. When a full drop of blood appears, use the sampling swab to collect the sample.

5. After sampling, gently press the cat's ear at the sampling site to stop the bleeding.

NOTE: Whole blood must be tested immediately.

Test procedure

Read the Instructions for Use carefully before performing the test. Before testing, allow the test and the unopened reagent to reach room temperature (15-30°C). The test cassette should be used as soon as possible, within 1 hour after opening the aluminum foil package; at temperatures above 30°C or in high humidity, it is recommended to use it as soon as possible.

Whole blood:

1. Tear off the foil of the extraction tube and use the sterile sampling swab to collect the blood. Once the cotton-covered part of the swab is completely discolored and no longer absorbs more blood, place the swab into the tube containing the reagent, then rotate it several times against the inner wall of the tube. This completely dissolves the animal's blood in the sample diluent. Mix thoroughly, then close the tube and set it aside. Tear open the aluminum foil package along the perforation, take out the test cassette and place it on a clean table. Slowly, holding the tube vertically, dispense 4 drops from the extraction tube into the sample well (S) of the test cassette, then start timing.

2. Wait for the colored lines to appear. Read the result after 10-30 minutes. The result is invalid after 30 minutes.
