Dog parvovirus is a highly contagious and serious disease caused by the parvovirus. This virus attacks the dog’s digestive and immune systems, leading to severe diarrhea, vomiting, and weakness. Young, unvaccinated dogs are especially vulnerable. The disease spreads rapidly, mainly through direct animal-to-animal contact and contaminated environments. Regular vaccinations are crucial to prevent this dangerous disease. Early treatment improves survival chances, but prevention and vaccination remain the best protection against canine parvovirus.

Canine coronavirus primarily affects the dog’s digestive system. Although there are many types of coronaviruses, the canine coronavirus typically causes mild or asymptomatic illness. Most animals can overcome the infection without serious health problems. The virus mainly causes symptoms such as diarrhea or loss of appetite in young or immunocompromised dogs. It is important to note that canine coronavirus is not the same as human COVID-19 coronavirus, and there is no evidence of transmission between dogs and humans. However, it is advisable to consult a veterinarian if your dog tests positive with this rapid test.

Symptoms of canine parvovirus:

• Vomiting (frothy, yellowish, or bloody)

• Severe, foul-smelling diarrhea (often bloody)

• Severe dehydration

• Fever or low body temperature

• Lethargy, weakness

• Loss of appetite, weight loss

• Abdominal pain, bloating
  Highly contagious and life-threatening, especially in puppies! Preventable with vaccination.

Symptoms of canine coronavirus (CCV):

• Diarrhea (usually mild, but can be severe)

• Vomiting (less common)

• Loss of appetite

• Lethargy, tiredness

• Mild fever
  Less severe than parvovirus, but can be worse in weakened or young dogs.

The combined rapid test allows you to test your dog for both parvovirus and coronavirus.

Testing procedure

Before testing, carefully read the user manual! Allow the test and unopened reagents to reach room temperature (15-30°C).

1. Collect a fresh stool sample using the sampling swab, then open the sampling tube. Place the swab into the tube containing the reagent liquid and rotate the swab for at least 10 seconds.

2. Simultaneously press the swab end against the tube wall at least five times to thoroughly mix the sample. Then remove the swab and close the tube.

3. Place the rapid test cassette on a flat, horizontal surface. Add 3 drops of the diluted sample into the sample well of the test cassette.

4. Wait for the colored lines to appear! Read the result after 10 minutes. Results read after 30 minutes are invalid.
