Helicobacter Pylori Rapid Test

Helicobacter pylori is a bacterium that lives in the human stomach and is responsible for most gastric ulcers and gastritis. The Helicobacter pylori rapid test is a diagnostic tool designed to detect the presence of this bacterium in a stool sample. It provides a fast and simple method for diagnosing an infection.

This bacterium can lead to several digestive disorders, including:

  • Gastric ulcer - H. pylori infection can cause ulcers in the stomach lining over time.

  • Duodenal ulcer - The infection can also lead to ulcers in the duodenum, especially in its first section.

  • Gastritis - Long-term H. pylori infection often results in inflammation of the stomach lining.

  • Stomach cancer - Persistent H. pylori infection increases the risk of gastric cancer by causing ongoing irritation and inflammation.

  • MALT lymphoma - In rare cases, it may cause MALT (mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue) lymphoma, a rare cancer of the immune tissue in the stomach lining.

It's important to note that many people carry H. pylori without developing any illness. Whether it causes disease depends on several individual factors such as immune system status, genetic predisposition, and environmental conditions.

The Alltest Helicobacter Pylori Rapid Test is designed for home use.

Test Kit Contents

  • 1 test cassette

  • 1 sample collection tube with extraction buffer

  • 1 stool collection paper

Test Procedure

Before performing the test, carefully read the included instructions. You must collect a stool sample according to the manual.

  1. Wash your hands with soap and rinse thoroughly with warm water.

  2. Collecting the stool sample:
Use the included collection paper or a clean container. Avoid contamination by ensuring the sample and paper do not come into contact with any cleaning agents or dirty surfaces, including toilet water.

  3. Processing the stool sample:
Unscrew the cap of the collection tube. Randomly poke the collection applicator into the stool sample at least three different spots. Do not scoop.
Close the tube tightly and shake vigorously to mix the sample with the buffer.

  4. Let the test pouch reach room temperature before opening. Remove the test cassette and use it as soon as possible. For best results, perform the test immediately after opening the pouch.

  5. Open the cap of the collection tube and break off the tip. Invert the tube and add 2 full drops of the extracted sample into the sample well (S) of the test cassette. Start the timer. Avoid introducing air bubbles.

  6. Read the results after 10 minutes. Do not interpret the results after 20 minutes.

Interpreting Results

Positive
Two colored lines appear, one in the test region (T) and one in the control region (C). This indicates the presence of H. pylori antigen in the stool, and you should consult a doctor.
Note: The intensity of the test line may vary depending on the amount of antigen present. Any visible color in the test line region (T) is considered a positive result.

Negative
Only one colored line appears in the control region (C). No line appears in the test region (T). This means H. pylori antigen was not detected in the stool.

Invalid
No control line appears. This may be due to insufficient sample volume or an incorrect procedure. Review the steps and repeat the test with a new cassette. If the issue persists, discontinue use of the test and contact your local distributor.

Test Reliability

The H. pylori Antigen Rapid Test Cassette (Stool) was evaluated using samples from both symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals. The results show that the H. pylori Antigen Rapid Test Cassette (Stool) has a sensitivity of 97.6% and a specificity of 97.9% compared with another rapid test. Overall accuracy: 97.8%.
