Sperm Concentration Rapid Test for Home Use

The Sperm Concentration Rapid Test is a biochemical test method for the in vitro qualitative estimation of the concentration of human semen. It is an additional option in the clinical diagnosis of infertility and/or in planning a pregnancy, by self-assessment of the level of sperm concentration relative to the concentration required for pregnancy.

The optimal sperm concentration lies within the normal range required for healthy fertility. The normal range for sperm concentration defined by the WHO (World Health Organization) is generally above 15 million/ml. A lower sperm concentration may be a cause of low fertility or infertility. The male fertility rapid test is suitable for home use.

Test Procedure

Read the Instructions for Use carefully before performing the test! Collect the specimen as described in the instructions for use!

1. Remove the test cassette from the foil pouch and place it on a flat surface. Using the pipette supplied in the package, dispense one drop of the specimen into the well marked “A”.
2. After the semen has been absorbed, add three drops of the blue dye to the well marked “A”, then wait 1-2 minutes for it to be absorbed.
3. Add two drops of the clear wash solution to the well marked “A” and wait 1-2 minutes for it to be absorbed. Then read the result immediately.
4. Compare the color developed in well “A” with the “B” reference color. The darker the color obtained, the higher the sperm concentration. Please read the enclosed procedure card.

Interpretation of Results

Normal

Compare the color developed in well “A” of the cassette with the reference color of well “B”. NORMAL: if the color in well “A” is darker than or the same as the “B” reference color. This means that the sperm concentration is greater than or equal to 15 million/mL. The probability of fertilization is high, provided that the other conditions are also met (e.g. ovulation).

Abnormal

Compare the color developed in well “A” of the cassette with the reference color of well “B”. ABNORMAL: if the color in well “A” is lighter than the “B” reference color. This means that the sperm concentration is lower than 15 million/mL, which indicates oligospermia (a lower than normal sperm count). The probability of fertilization is low and further medical examination is recommended.

Note

If well “A” has not developed any color at all, this indicates severe oligospermia or azoospermia (a concentration lower than 5 million/mL). If you are unsure about the result or think it is inaccurate, repeat the test at a later time with the other test kit in the box. It is important that there is no ejaculation for 6 days before the repeat test. If the second test also shows an abnormal result, consult your doctor.
