Urinary Tract Infection Rapid Test
A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection affecting parts of the urinary system such as the bladder, urethra, kidneys, and ureters. UTIs are most commonly caused by bacteria, but viruses or fungi may also be responsible in rare cases. Most infections affect the urethra and bladder, known as lower urinary tract infections. In fewer cases, the infection can reach the kidneys, known as upper urinary tract infections.
Common symptoms of a UTI include:
-
Frequent and painful urination
-
Burning sensation or pain in the bladder or urethra
-
Bloody or cloudy urine
-
Lower abdominal pain or discomfort
-
General malaise and fatigue
Potential risks of a UTI:
-
Spread: The infection may ascend in the urinary tract, potentially causing pyelonephritis (kidney infection), kidney failure, and other serious complications.
-
Recurrent infections: Some individuals are prone to recurring UTIs, requiring proper treatment and attention to hygiene practices.
-
Pregnancy complications: In pregnant women, UTIs pose a higher risk, potentially leading to complications such as preterm birth or low birth weight.
-
Complications in the elderly: UTIs in older adults can have severe consequences, including overall health deterioration, delirium, and kidney failure.
UTIs are usually treated with antibiotics targeting the infection-causing bacteria. It is important to follow your doctor’s instructions and complete the full course of treatment to ensure recovery and avoid complications. Proper hygiene practices, such as thorough handwashing and proper urination habits, help prevent UTIs.

How to Use
IMPORTANT: It is recommended to collect the urine sample in the early morning, as it is the most concentrated. Ensure that the sample does not come into contact with toilet water or any disinfectant/cleaning agents.
For women only: Do not use the test during menstruation or within three days after menstruation ends. Ensure the urine sample is not contaminated with vaginal discharge, as this may lead to misleading results.
Do not make any important medical decisions without first consulting your doctor.
COLLECT THE SAMPLE:
Collect a portion of your urine in the provided plastic cup or a clean container without detergent residue. Make sure the cup is filled with enough urine.
-
Open the foil pouch and take out the test strip. Do not touch the test pads. Perform the test immediately after opening the pouch.
-
Dip the test strip into the urine sample.
IMPORTANT: Make sure to immerse all four test pads for approximately 1–2 seconds.
-
Remove the test strip and wipe off any excess urine on the rim of the container or with an absorbent material (e.g., paper towel) to prevent mixing of reagents from adjacent pads.
-
Wait 2 minutes (do not interpret results after 3 minutes). Read the results for each parameter separately and compare them with the provided color chart.
Interpreting Results
Read each test pad separately and compare the color to the provided chart. Disregard any color changes occurring at the edges of the pads or any changes after more than 3 minutes.
Reliability of the UTI Rapid Test
Key performance indicators for users include sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and precision. The test is designed to be specific for the target analytes, with the exception of listed interferences (see the Limitations section in the manual). Visual interpretation of results depends on multiple factors, including variations in color perception, presence or absence of interfering factors, and lighting conditions. Each color block on the chart corresponds to a range of analyte concentrations.
